Ogi and Run 4 Wales (R4W) have today joined forces to bring the Porthcawl 10k and junior races back to town for 2023.

The exciting new partnership will see Ogi headline the event – taking our place at the heart of the community when the iconic seaside festival of running returns to the town on Sunday 2 July. Since 2019 the race has attracted a growing number of runners, and with Ogi’s support, it will continue into 2023 and beyond.

Ogi is currently rolling out a brand new full fibre network, bringing next-generation broadband and voice services to communities and businesses across south Wales including £5million being directly invested in Porthcawl.

Race 4 Wales Race Director & Former Olympian, Steve Brace, said: “Events such as Porthcawl 10k rely on the support of companies such a Ogi to make them viable – and it’s fantastic to be working with a company that values the importance of community.

“Ogi on a mission to connect people and communities – a perfect fit for this iconic event which always brings thousands of runners to Porthcawl’s breath-taking seafront. We also have some exciting plans to work with community groups, businesses, local people, and schools in the lead up to the race.

“The Ogi Porthcawl 10k is a personal favorite of mine, having grown up within the local area. It is exciting to see Ogi’s level of investment in my home area, one that will significantly benefit homes and businesses across the town.”

Ogi’s Head of Brand and Engagement, Sarah Vining, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Run 4 Wales to bring the Ogi Porthcawl 10K back to town this year. Here at Ogi we put community at the heart of everything we do, and this partnership allows us to do that in Porthcawl in the run up to the event and beyond.

“The programme looks exciting, with schools, community groups, Ogi staff and runners of all ages all gearing up for a summer of fun. I’m particularly excited to see families get together and enjoy some of the planned junior activities. .”

Entries for the event are now on sale. The Ogi Porthcawl 10K will once again take runners on a route showing off a number of landmarks and seaside spots in the town including Rest Bay, Trecco Bay, Coney Bay, the historic Grand Pavilion and the iconic Porthcawl lighthouse.

A series of supporting Junior races will follow the 10K, meaning runners of all ages and ability will be able to get in on the action.
